|   By observing the polarization state of
the object from a single view, we estimated the 3D shape
of the object, reflection parameters of the object such
as reflectance and surface roughness, and also estimated
the illumination distribution. Polarizer-mounted color CCD camera is the measurement setup. First, from the color information of the obtained image, we separate each images into specular component image and diffuse component image. Then, we calculate the polarization data from images taken under different rotation angle of the polarizer. We estimate the surface shape from the polarization data. By detecting the intensity peak of specular component image, we estimate the orientation of the directional light sources. Finally, we estimate the reflection parameters of diffuse and specular reflection, that is, diffuse albedo, specular albedo, and surface roughness. |
